| The future of Basildon Council's housing stock was sealed on the 29 March 2007 with unanimous approval from Basildon Councillors, for a Management Agreement with St Georges Community Housing Ltd. |

This agreement has meant that since 1 April 2007 the management of council homes throughout the Basildon District, has transferred from Basildon Council to St Georges Community Housing Ltd, who are now the ALMO (Arms Length Management Organisation) company.

VAT increase to 17.5% from 1st January 2010
From 1st January 2010 the standard rate of VAT will return to 17.5%. This will affect private tenants who rent a garage from us.
At present private tenants are charged VAT at 15% on their garage rent. From 1st January 2010 they will be charged VAT at 17.5%. Private tenants should please be aware that this will add around 25p to their weekly garage rent.

St Georges Community Housing now on the road to Decent Homes after achieving a 2 stars ‘good’ rating from the Audit Commission.
This means that Basildon District Council tenants are now a vital step closer to getting new investment in their homes.
St Georges Community Housing, which manages Basildon Council’s housing stock, are celebrating after achieving a 2 stars ‘good’ rating following their recent inspection by the Audit Commission in June this year.
