Tenants Handbook
Your tenancy agreement is with Basildon District Council, however, your day-to-day
services are provided by St Georges Community Housing, a company set up to
manage the housing.
Throughout this handbook ‘we’ refers to us, St Georges Community Housing. Where
the text relates to Basildon District Council, this will be shown as ‘the council’.
This handbook contains important information about your tenancy. It explains your
rights and responsibilities and tells you about the services provided by us and the
council. We have tried to cover most things that you may need to know. If you
would like more information, please contact your local area housing office.
We aim to provide a high-quality housing service which is local and friendly. We
listen to your views and involve you in the decisions that affect you and your home.
Your tenancy agreement is a legal document. It tells you what you, we and the
council must and must not do. You get your tenancy agreement when you start your
tenancy with Basildon Council. If you need another copy of your tenancy agreement
contact your local area housing office.
If the council needs to change the terms of your tenancy agreement, it must give
you notice of the change. If the change affects all tenants, the council must consult
its tenants and provide an explanation of the reasons for the change. The council
must consider any comments they receive during the consultation.
