Supporting People
The Supporting People grant paid to Basildon Council covers the cost of support services provided by St Georges Community Housing.
Our main supporting people services are:
- St Georges sheltered housing
- Basildon Careline, the emergency care alarm service.
St Georges sheltered housing tenants are also required to pay a service charge which covers the following:
- providing a sheltered housing scheme co-ordinator (warden)
- providing alarm linked services
- maintaining the common room and laundry facilities
- subscribing to Basildon Careline, the emergency care alarm service.
For the majority of our sheltered housing tenants these costs are covered by their Housing Benefit.
If you are a tenant who does not receive Housing Benefit then you must be aware that you will be charged with paying these costs.
Advice from the Sheltered Housing Team.
If you have any questions or need advice and information about the service charges included in your rent then please speak to our Sheltered Housing Team.
