Panels, Forums and Focus Groups

We have a range of Panels, Forums and Focus Groups to consult with, inform and listen to our residents views about local and district issues.

We encourage residents who live on or adjacent to any estate managed by St Georges Community Housing, to become involved as representatives on these groups, especially those who are under-represented, such as youth, people with disabilities or ethnic minorities.

Become a local Community Panel Representative

Nine Community Panels have been set up.

Each Community Panel is made up of local residents, covers a particular area within the Basildon District and are supported by our Tenant Participation Team.

Local Councillors attend Community Panel meetings but the meetings are run by tenants and leaseholders themselves supported by the St Georges Tenant Participation Team.

If you are interested in becoming a Community Panel representative please complete and return our nomination form for community panel membership.

Become a member of a Service or Policy Panel

To become a member of a St Georges Service or Policy Panel you must already be a Community Panel Representative (see above).

There is a time commitment involved in being a regular Panel member which is either daytime and/or occasional evenings.

The work however is varied and interesting and your involvement will help us improve our services to our tenants and leaseholders.

Here are examples of St Georges Service and Policy Panels:-
  • Tenant & Leaseholder Panel (major service and policy changes the Board are considering)
  • Tenant Panel (Tenant interest)
  • Leaseholder Panel (Leaseholder interest)
  • Sheltered Housing Forum (Sheltered Housing interest)
  • Repairs Panel (Repairs Service interest)
  • Capital Strategy & Budget Panel (Major Improvement Works interest)
  • Voids Panel (Empty Property interest)
  • Gas Panel (Gas Partnership Contract interest)
If you wish to get involved the St Georges Tenant Participation Team is always on hand to help and guide you.

Join one of our Tenant & Leaseholder Focus Groups

If you don't have the time to serve as a Community Panel Representative, you can still be involved by joining one of our Focus Groups.

Focus Groups are service topic based, for example; Estate Cleaning, where we ask a cross section of tenants and leaseholders for their views and help towards making improvements to our services.

Less time commitment is involved in Focus Groups than Panels, all you need is to have an interest in the focus group topic.

You can join our Focus Group list by giving us details of your particular areas of interest.

Once you are 'signed up' we will consult you from time to time on matters of interest, using one of the following methods: phone or email, a personal visit, a postal survey, or by inviting you to a Focus Group or informal meeting.

If you wish to get involved the St Georges Tenant Participation Team is always on hand to help and guide you.
