Equality
Equality is about giving people who have different identities based on their race, gender, disability, age, sexual orientation, religion and faith; the same chance to take part in work, education, housing, health and other services.
In England some of the following laws cover equality:
- Race Relations Act 1976
- Sex Discrimination Act 1975
- Disability Discrimination Act 2005
- Employment Equality (Age) Regulation 2006
- Employment Equality (Sexual orientation) Regulation 2003
- Employment Equality (Religion or Belief) Regulation 2003
Diversity
Diversity is about recognising individual differences, which can include social class, cultural differences, marital status, skills and how these differences and others can benefit our organisation.

Our Equality and Diversity Co-ordinator is responsible for making sure that all our customers have equal access to our complete range of services.

- Disablement Information & Advice Line (DIAL)
St Georges also supports the work of this locally based independent charity covering the South of Essex. DIAL has been quality marked by the Community Legal Services for general help with case work in disability issues.
DIAL's aim is to empower people with disability to reach their full potential in the community and to improve their quality of life.
- Essex Racial Equality Council
- supports and investigates cases of racial discrimination.

Translation Services
Translation Services at our offices
Our local Area Housing Offices and our Repairs Service Centre can provide a Language Line translation service for customers who have difficulty understanding or speaking English.
Sign Language at our offices
We have trained staff who can provide a 'Signing' service to help anyone with hearing difficulties.
To take advantage of our 'Signing' service, please contact any of our local Area Housing Offices or our Repairs Service Centre to ask for assistance.
