Our Work in the Community

St Georges Community Housing is committed to supporting sustainable communities and improving the quality of life for our tenants.

Here are some examples:-

Community Wardens

We also have a team of Community Wardens working with the community and the Police to help reduce incidents of crime and anti-social behaviour and support community projects such as a our Junior Warden Scheme.

Estate Environment Improvements

Each year the nine Community Panels are allocated £2K to spend on small estate improvement projects which in the past has funded park benches, dog waste bins, litter bins, bollards and security lighting.

In addition to this there is a further £150k available to spend district wide on estate based projects.

This year we have funded the installation of several play area, the ‘Tidy up’ of Stagden Cross, donation to the Noak Bridge Beautification Society and resurfacing of paths and drying areas at AP schemes.

If you have any ideas for improving communal areas within your local estate please contact Resident Involvement Team or complete our online Comments form Feedback Form Icon

Major Estate Regeneration

St Georges principal partner, Basildon Council has been very successful in achieving major funding for estate regeneration projects in the Basildon District.

This has been achieved by working in close partnership with developers, housing associations, and government agencies,

Two current projects are the regeneration of Five Links and Fryens/Craylands estates.

Developing Trade Skills for young people

St Georges Community Housing supports the Basildon Trade School Project, a multi agency partnership initiative including Basildon Council, Est Connexions, Basildon & Thurrock College and our service contractor partners.

The Trade School offers vocational training to local young people providing opportunities to learn basic skills in bricklaying, plumbing, carpentry and electrical skills.

Several students have used their Trade School experience to go onto further Construction Industry training.
