Financial achievements.
Our financial achievements for this period have included:
- Saving £90,000 on our void partnering contract per year.
- Increasing income by £50,000 per year by reducing the time properties are empty.
- Reducing staffing costs at the Repairs Centre by £200,000 per year through centralising services at Alpi House.
- Achieving a £560,000 reduction in recharges from the council in 2008/09.
We have also worked with the Health Authority on core training courses; increased the take up of direct debit payments; reduced anti-social behaviour on estates and installed smoke alarms.
The Annual Tenant and Leaseholder Survey showed that 77.2 per cent of tenants felt their rent was Value for Money (up from 75 per cent); and that 42.7 per cent were satisfied with the service charge (up from 23 per cent).
Value for money is a key priority at SGCH, so we have compared our performance with other ALMOs. Our findings showed that our repair costs are some of the lowest amongst all ALMOs.
A plan is now in place to review issues and reduce costs.
