We would like you to test the alarm by pressing the pendant at least once a month.
This can be done at any time, but is cheaper after 6 pm and at weekends.
Please be sure to tell the Controller who answers your call that you are just testing.
This will also help to keep the pendant battery from going flat. | |

Every six months we will visit you to:
- Ensure your details are still correct, (information about clients is kept in accordance with the Data Protection Act).
- Test the alarm and check the alarm's internal battery.
Alarm batteries
As the alarm has an internal battery, we ask you not to switch off the alarm when you go away, as this will run the battery down. It is safe to leave the alarm switched on at all times.
Different types of alarm available.
Alarm and Phone
As well as the basic alarm and pendant we offer an alarm with telephone where the pendant can be used to answer the telephone. This is useful for people with mobility problems.
The phone also has three fast dial buttons allowing you to contact family or friends without having to dial their numbers. This type of alarm can replace your usual phone and can sometimes save you the cost of renting a telephone.
Fall Detector alarm
We also offer a fall pendant for people who have epilepsy or who are prone to falls. This small pendant fixes to clothing and is set off if you have a fall or lose consciousness. The fall pendants are available at a rental charge of 50p per week.
If you prefer not to wear your pendant on a cord around your neck, we can provide a wrist band or a clip so the pendant can be worn on clothing. There is no charge for this.
Keys and Keyholders
We appreciate that not everyone has local key holders. We can provide a keystone at a small cost, so that a key can be hidden in the garden. We can also supply details of a key safe company where you can order a key safe. If you are interested in either of these then please let us know.
Payment for Careline
Payment for the alarm can be arranged in either:
- monthly by Direct Debit direct from your Bank Account
- or by quarterly invoice.
Payment of invoices can be made at any Council Offices, at the Post Office or Bank.
Careline Focus Groups
We constantly strive to improve the service we provide, so we regularly ask for feedback from our clients on all aspects of the service. Your views are so important to us that we also run a Focus Group for next of kin and clients with dispersed alarms. We aim to meet at least every 6 months, thus giving everyone a chance to say how they would like to see the service run.
Visit the Careline Control Centre
If you would like to visit the Control Centre, then please give us a call and we'll arrange a convenient time. It is a good idea for clients to see what happens when they make a call and to meet staff. If you come at the right time we'll even make you a cup of tea!
