Important Information for Care Professionals...
The Careline Service
Many people in our community have an independent lifestyle, but they do worry from time to time about accidents, personal safety or the need for help at home in an emergency.
Basildon Careline is a 24 hour service providing care and reassurance every day of the year. It is a service run by St Georges Community Housing Limited, Basildon and there are currently over 5,500 people who benefit from its support. The service was set up in 1979 and now works with many organisations throughout the District to provide care and support to all types of people.
 | Basildon Careline gives them the freedom to live safe in the knowledge that they can always get help at the touch of a button. They can call for help from anywhere in their home using a portable alarm trigger that can automatically raise a telephone call to our Careline Centre.
Careline's Mobile Response team can respond to emergency calls and provide support for clients at any time of the day or night. We also work closely with the emergency services to ensure our clients' safety at all times. |
Who benefits from a Careline
The service is open to anyone living in the Basildon, Castle Point and Rochford districts. There are no restrictions on age or status. We can actively encourage a diverse range of clients as the service can be of benefit to almost anyone who needs some form of emergency care or support at home.
An alarm is often installed as part of a care package, but equally it could be installed for reasons of personal safety or just as a form of reassurance.
These are some of the reasons we install Careline.
- As part of a care package
- To support a discharge from hospital
- Assistance in preventing domestic violence
- A safety net for people with disabilities
- To help deter bogus callers

Installing a Careline Alarm
Basildon Careline provides all of the required equipment and can generally install an alarm within 24 hours of receiving your application.
 | We will fully install the equipment of your choice; all you will need is a modern push in telephone socket and a 3-pin power socket nearby.
The system will be demonstrated to you in your home and we will always try to include your relatives, to make sure everyone knows what is involved.
